👩‍⚕️💻 A team at Massachusetts General Hospital has developed a new method for detecting Alzheimer's disease using deep learning and routinely collected clinical brain images, leading to more accurate diagnoses.

📈 The team tested the model across five datasets and found it detected Alzheimer's disease risk with 90.2% accuracy, regardless of hospital and time.

💡 One of the main innovations was the model's ability to detect Alzheimer's disease regardless of other variables, such as age. The model also used an uncertainty metric to determine if patient data were too different from what it had been trained on to make a successful prediction.

🏥 The study shows promising results for clinical use of this diagnostic technology in real-world settings. The research was supported by the National Institutes of Health and by the Technology Innovation Program funded by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Republic of Korea.🧠💡
